Erin Treadway

Actor

I grew up in Texas. Lost the accent sometime in high school (thank you, Ms. Lewis). I am now based in Brooklyn, NY. Most of the projects I do are with my theatre company Loading Dock Theatre that I formed with my husband: playwright Leegrid Stevens.

A PEREGRINE FALLS
by Leegrid Stevens
directred by Padraic Lilis

Related to true life events, the play focuses on a Mormon family whose internal mythology is shattered by revelations of abuse. A PEREGRINE FALLS explores the power of illusion and why sometimes it’s impossible to see just what’s right in front of you.

Charlie’s daughter, Kailey, returns home for the first time in years with exciting news of a pregnancy, when a pain suddenly sends Kailey to the hospital. Joy quickly turns to dread as the facts emerge, painting Kailey’s story in a much darker light.

“Of all the birds in the sky, the peregrine chose that one.
And there’s something about being chosen…
makes it hard to look away.“

Ms Julie, Asian Equities
by Leegrid Stevens

Took on the role of Julie in Leegrid Stevens adaptation of August Strindberg’s Miss Julie, where  aristocrats and servants were replaced with high caliber bankers and the janitorial staff, exploring themes of class and forbidden romance against a timely contemporary backdrop. Brave New World Rep’s site specific production was staged on a state-of-the-art functional trading floor at the Brooklyn Academy of Global Finance in Bed-Stuy.

Casablancabox
Written by Sara Farrington
Directed by Reid Farrington

I played Mayo Methot, Bogie's alcoholic, troubled wife in this epic, inside-out theatrical imagining of the making of Casablanca, written by Sara Farrington and directed and designed by Reid Farrington. Commissioned by The HARP Program at HERE Arts Center. The movie serves as the spine from which a myriad of stories branch off. Employing simple wooden canvas flats and a large cast, CasablancaBox is a full film set onstage. Inspired by a roving camera style, the piece captures everyone's story, from the most famous players to the hundreds of real-life European refugees who peopled the “atmosphere” of Rick’s Café Americain.

"Methot (Erin Treadway) and (Roger) Casey act a painful scene together beautifully"
-- Time Out New York
"One of the interesting touches is the appearance of Humphrey Bogart’s abusive, alcoholic, actress wife, Mayo Methot (well played by Erin Treadway).
-- Theatre Scene

"And if you’ve never given the tragic Methot (a luminous Erin Treadway) a second thought, or even a first one, chances are she’ll haunt you and any future glimpses of Bogart you might enjoy."
-- The Village Voice
